I disagree that this is typical strategy of Jabil, I've worked for Jabil for a number of years and never witnessed anything like this! I am close to the RIM work over in Hungary and this is not a short term investment, RIM are a strategic Jabil customer. The RIM business is growing at an amazing rate with new products being developed and hitting the market all the time. The recent hiring phase is to do with a brand new product which is revolutionary for RIM. There is a clear road map on future RIM products and Jabil will integrate with them at an early stage to ensure they are production ready (resource and capability). Demand will indeed drop on specific products as they reach the last stage in their life cycle but new products will ramp.

Its the typical strategy of Jabil, hire for the short term, get the people to move all the way up to them then fire them when the ramp up and launch is complete and demand drops

Surely these jobs are for seasonal ramp requirements rather than long term contracts.
